Das Kriterium der Qualität handwerklicher Produkte läßt sich in
spätmittelalterlichen Quellen mannigfach nachweisen. Oie meist
schriftlich erfolgende Auseinandersetzung, ihre Form und Tendenz
sind vielfältig. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt zeigt sich in normativen
Quellen (Handwerksordnungen, etc.) und jenen Uberlieferungen,
welche sich Ubertretungen der Normen widmen (Gerichtsrechnungen,
etc.). Darüber hinaus können jedoch auch in anderen
erhaltenen Quellenmitteilungen Einstellungen erkannt werden, die
sich, über den Problemkreis Norm – NormUbertretung hinausgehend,
auf die Qualität handwerklicher Erzeugnisse beziehen. Dazu gehört
etwa die Beschäftigung mit den Ph􀃷nomenen „einheimisches Produkt
– fremdes Produkt“ oder „altes, althergebrachtes Produkt – neues,
‚fortschrittliches‘ Produkt“, welche in der spätmittelalterlichen
Gesellschaft oft entscheidende Wirkung auf die Qualitätsbeurteilung
ausüben. Das ständische bzw. schichtspezifische Element kann
zwar häufig mit dem Problem der handwerklichen Normierung in
Einklang gebracht werden, geht jedoch in anderen Bereichen über
das Produktionsbezogene hinaus und betrifft den, der ständischen
Ordnung unterworfenen Komplex von Legitimität und Angemessenheit
bestimmter Qualität(en) fUr bestimmte Gruppen der spätmittelalterlichen
Bevölkerung.
Bezogen auf die normative Situation und deren Obertretung (vor
allem hinsieht] ich „Fälschung“ des Produkts, zu geringen Gewichtes,
zu kurzer länge, etc.) kann sich die etwaige Bestrafung
